Nathan Masters is a bit of a Renaissance man. Part country boy, part sage, part craftsman. One thing is for certain, Nathan makes one helluva slingshot… a FlippinOut Slingshot must be handled to be truly understood. The careful blending of natural materials, a keen understanding of ergonomics, and the artist’s eye, all combine to strike the perfect balance of form and function in creating each one-of-a-kind FlippinOut Slingshot.
Nathan has been a marksmanship enthusiast his whole life. Beginning at age 4 when Nathan received his first Red Ryder BB gun, his love of shooting sports was born, and has been an integral part of his life ever since. Today, Nathan is not only a tournament-dominating traditional archer with the longbow, he’s also an up and coming contender on the slingshot tournament circuit as well. Growing up, when he wasn’t honing his marksmanship skills, Nathan was spending time with his dad. It just so happened that Nathan’s dad was the consummate tinkerer, entrepreneur, and inventor. Industrial design was a language spoken often and with passion in Nathan’s home as a young man and the crafting of useful things was second nature.
When Nathan found slingshots again in adulthood, a whole new world of marksmanship possibilities opened up. With the discovery of flatbands and ball bearing ammo, he was amazed at the level of accuracy that could be achieved with a slingshot, and even took second place in the 2011 East Coast Slingshot Tournament.
However, finding the “perfect” slingshot that combined top notch craftsmanship, artistry, and ergonomically correct design was nearly impossible… unless he crafted it himself. As Nathan soon found out, he wasn’t the only one searching for the perfect slingshot. In fact, there was a growing online community of passionate slingshot enthusiasts from all corners of the globe who were also hungry for the same level of quality and design in their slingshots. The “light bulb” turned on as Nathan realized his life-long passions had the potential to be a thriving business. Shortly thereafter, FlippinOut Slingshots was born.
